Breast augmentation is a procedure that some women, including athletes, may need to undergo at one point in their life. If you are a woman athlete and you are thinking of going for this procedure, you should get information on how it will affect your workouts. It is not normal for you to resume your workouts immediately after the procedure has been done. However, you can get information in South Jersey that will guide you on how to work out after you have had the procedure. Some of the things you should consider include:

Resting
All physicians who perform breast augmentation will agree that you need to rest for at least one week after your operation. In fact, any patient who has undergone an operation should rest for some time before they resume their daily chores. For athletes, they may even be required to rest for more than seven days before they are allowed to do the simplest exercises. This can be very frustrating for women who love to workout. However, it is crucial in ensuring the healing process goes on as smooth as possible.

Starting off on light exercises
Depending on how fast you heal, you can start on some light exercises this can only be done when your doctor has given you the green light. Never go back to your rigorous workouts just because your doctor has told you to start exercising. In fact, it is wise to start with very light exercises such as walking or jogging for short distances. You can gauge how your body responds to these light exercises before you resume your normal workout.

Take note that you should not assume you are completely healed just because you felt great when you started off with light exercises. Sometimes the body may hide issues it is facing and you may only notice a complication when it is too late. Do light cardio workout routines for a week or two after your breast augmentation. Make sure your go for at least one checkup before you decide to step up the workout routine.

Progress after the first month
Some people will feel they are capable of going back to their normal routines once they have taken it slow for a month. This is normal for the average person, but may not work for your specific condition. If you have been going slowly since you were operated, you can consult with your doctor and your trainer. They should be able to come up with a workout routine that will best suit your needs.

If you are not an athlete but you love to workout, a month should be sufficient time for you to resume your normal exercises. However, it is always best to consult with your physician before you make a decision. Additionally, you can get someone to work out with you just to monitor how you are doing.
